The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s first concern—upon learning about Argosy’s challenges—was for their students. As an institution dedicated for the last 40 years to educating and training professionals in the mental and related behavioral health professions, The Chicago School deeply sympathizes with their predicament. That is why we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure these students can keep their dreams alive and complete their education. The following FAQ answers some questions that we anticipate students will have related to the impact of the teach-out on their existing enrollment.
Is the Doctor of Clinical Psychology Program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Anaheim Campus APA-accredited now?
No. The Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology Program at the Anaheim Campus is not accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). However, we have received the designated status “accredited, inactive” for this program, which applies only to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Anaheim Campus/Argosy Teach-Out program.
Why doesn’t the accreditation extend to all students in The Chicago School’s Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program at the Anaheim Campus? Aren’t we taking the same classes?
Due to the unique and unfortunate circumstance of students impacted by Argosy University’s closing, The APA Commission on Accreditation voted to grant “accredited, inactive” status to the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program at the Anaheim Campus. This program is officially referred to as The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Anaheim Campus/Argosy Teach-Out program. This program is offered exclusively for teach-out students from the Psy.D. programs in Clinical Psychology at the formerly-operational Argosy University, which were APA-accredited.
The accreditation status of “accredited, inactive” is only applicable to the teach-out students of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Anaheim Campus/Argosy Teach-Out program. This status does not apply to any other students who are accepted into, matriculated in, or successfully complete (i.e., graduate from) the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Anaheim Campus who did not transfer from an APA-accredited program at Argosy University.
Can I transfer to the Argosy Teach-Out program?
No. Students who were not enrolled in an accredited Argosy program may not be admitted to or transferred into The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Anaheim Campus/Argosy Teach-Out ‘accredited, inactive’ program.
