Centers and Institutes

The Chicago School prides itself on the extensive range of real-world learning opportunities that we offer our students. In addition to the myriad of service learning experiences through our community partnerships, students benefit from access to specialized centers on each campus—providing them with valuable resources to enhance their education while fulfilling practicum and internship requirements.

Forensic Center

As the practice arm of the Forensic Psychology department at the Chicago campus, The Chicago School Forensic Center brings students together with local organizations on projects that bolster practical learning experiences while addressing unmet needs in the community. Specialized clinical services include victim-related trauma, child abuse and neglect, and recidivism reduction for those who have come in contact with the legal sector.

Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education

Naomi Ruth Cohen showed her compassion by working in her community for the benefit of the disadvantaged. The Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute (NRCI) was established in the memory of this remarkable woman. Part of the clinical counseling department at the Chicago Campus, NRCI is dedicated to eradicating the stigma associated with mental illness. NRCI offers conferences, sponsor activities, and provides networking opportunities for students to meet with professionals across the U.S.

Diversity Center

With the desire to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion for the benefit of all community members, the Chicago Campus Diversity Center was created in 2018 after a year-long dialog with students, faculty, and staff.  The Multicultural Diversity Advisory Faculty Committee continues to shepherd the evolution of The Diversity Center, even as it is temporarily closed due to COVID; and, as a community, we continue to dialog ways in which The Diversity Center can support and promote sustainable resources for the Chicago campus.

The Diversity Center at The Chicago School of Professional PsychologyThe Diversity Center logo was designed by student Jess Henry in fall of 2018.  The design was chosen through a selection process that included submissions from several current students.

The Diversity Center Mural pictured below was created by students, faculty and staff, with the assistance of Artist Antonia Ruppert and is now displayed at the entrance of our campus at The Merchandise Mart.

For additional information regarding the Diversity Center, please contact Associate Campus Dean, Dr. Stephanie DeCicco at [email protected].

Office of Placement & Training

A unique feature of The Chicago School is that all students receive support from the Office of Placement & Training (OPT). OPT is responsible for overseeing all aspects of The Chicago School student practicum and internship training, including orienting the members of the learning community to the training site search, application, interviewing, and acceptance processes.

Library and Test Kit Center

Both on campus and online, the library is a resource hub for students throughout their enrollment at The Chicago School. In addition, our library houses a test kit center that provides a wide range of psychological assessment materials for students in support of their chosen program.

Community Partnerships

One of the best ways to begin building your resume is to get involved with the local community. At The Chicago School our extensive community partnerships help build this bridge for students and faculty, providing extensive opportunities for networking, volunteering, and professional development.

Career Services

The education you’ll receive at The Chicago School is not restricted to the classroom. Career Services provides students with knowledge and guidance to further their career development through workshops and personal assistance centered on resume development, cover letter development, and more.
