Biography
Brian Persaud, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Translational Sciences at Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Prior to medicine, he taught as a high school teacher, college calculus professor and helped author multiple Differential Equations textbooks. His interest in adult learning motivated him to pursue medicine. After completing his Internal Medicine residency and chief residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, he joined Harvard where he currently serves as the Associate Director of their global medical education course, Training to Teach in Medicine. He concurrently serves as a facilitator for the national Veterans Association (VA) faculty development course known as Project MODEL (Maximizing Ongoing Development and Educational Leadership) to facilitate the training of a network of clinician educators across the country.
His primary interest is in applying the principles of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning to take an evidence-based approach to improving each of his educational sessions. He also deeply invests his time in the development of clinical reasoning skills and preparedness for clerkships and residency,
When he isn't nerding out on Med Ed, you can find him running all over the streets of Chicago.
